Good afternoon, WCMMEA directors!
I am Kymbre Resler, the new Orchestra VP for WCMMEA and the orchestra director at Raymore-Peculiar High School.
After much consideration and discussion with my colleagues, I have decided that we are going to use the 2023 Missouri All-State Orchestra audition material for ADO this year, but I have made simplifications!
I believe that this change will benefit all of our students and programs as well as prepare students for potentially auditioning for All-State Orchestra in December.
As always, students will be given their pieces to learn after auditions in November are complete.
I have attached edited documents for you to share with your students, and I will detail the changes below:
1. All scales will be modified to be 2 octave scales. Students are welcome to prepare and perform the written 3 octave scale, but only a 2 octave scale is expected.
2. Of the 3 excerpts, students may choose 2 to perform.
Hopefully these modifications make the audition material less intimidating for you students as well as gives them the confidence to continue learning for All-State auditions.
Additionally, here is the link to the web page that has the included recordings: http://www.moastaweb.org/
I know this is a change from previous years - I hope the early communication allows you to push this material out to your students with plenty of time for learning!
Auditions will take place on November 12, 2022 at Warrensburg HS. Any string player in the district is eligible to audition! Band Directors at schools that do not have an orchestra program, I encourage you to seek out any string players that may attend your school and give them the audition music!

- These scales should be performed as close to the metronome marking provided, but if they are may be played at a slightly lower tempo. The markings will be modified as well.
2. Of the 3 excerpts, students may choose 2 to perform.
- I am marking tempo ranges for the excerpts, rather than a set tempo.
Hopefully these modifications make the audition material less intimidating for you students as well as gives them the confidence to continue learning for All-State auditions.
